WOW! is one word used to describe latest Zoo project. Greeting guests at the new Front Entry Plaza (now open) is an oversized lioness. The lioness is not real but sits upon the Zoo’s new entryway to welcome guests to the Zoo. The renovations, all from private donations, provide an easy drop off area, nearby parking, Friends of the Zoo member entrance and fun animal experiences. Playful river otters and majestic swans can be seen immediately entering the Zoo in the new Missouri Trails exhibit.
The Zoo Learning Center also is open. Using the Zoo as a living classroom, the renovated entrance building has been transformed to provide additional space for engaging science nature programs, classes, overnights and camps.
With more than 1,000 animals at the Kansas City Zoo, each day brings new opportunities for everyone to get to know the animals – come play and see for yourself.
