The Kansas City Zoo has been an integral part of our city for more than 100 years. There are many ways you can help your Zoo remain vital and exciting. Your tax-deductible gift can enrich the lives of the animals at the Kansas City Zoo and help ensure these marvelous creatures exist for generations to come. Make a donation today!

Here are just a few of the ways you can support the Zoo. For more information on any of the programs listed below, please call (816) 513-5809; or e-mail donate@fotzkc.org.

Adopt a Wild Child: This fund is used to build new homes (exhibits) for our precious animal residents. It is also used to purchase toys, scents and other enrichment materials that keep our animals happy and healthy.

Annual Fund: Gifts to the Annual Fund help pay for the Zoo’s ongoing operations. Funds pay for animal care; infrastructure (including new exhibits); acquisitions and more.

Animal Health Fund: The Kansas City Zoo takes pride in the health care provided to our animals. However, vaccines, equipment and other hospital needs are expensive. This fund ensures our animals live long and productive lives.

Animal Breeding Fund: Many animals at the Zoo are members of endangered and threatened species. Through breeding programs, we add to the conservation field and ensure that these marvelous creatures remain part of the global population.

Education Fund: Education is our primary goal. Gifts to the Education Fund support school programs, outreach and teacher-training workshops.

Conservation Carousel: This carousel features hand-carved wooden endangered animals. It is the perfect attraction for families with small children who are not quite ready for the full Zoo experience, but will nonetheless become enthralled with Zoo animals. These youngsters are destined to become loyal Zoo supporters. Naming rights exist for each animal ride.

Founder’s Fund: In an effort to ensure the future viability of the Zoo, a Founder’s Fund was established in 2002. Gifts ensure the existence of the Zoo for future generations.

Future Exhibits Fund: The Zoo is currently involved in developing a long-term Master Plan. Early stages brought an enhanced Children’s Zoo, and supported the return of such animals as tigers and bears. Future plans call for new animals, including penguins and puffers. Funds in the Future Exhibit Fund will help make these dreams a reality.

Jazzoo: This has been called “Kansas City’s biggest party.” Once a year in June, more than 80 of the area’s top restaurants and bars bring their specialties to the Zoo. Those attending eat and drink all they wish for the festive evening and dance to the sounds of some of the nation’s top musical acts. Jazzoo raised more than $700,000 in 2009. All proceeds benefit the Zoo.

Matching Employer Contributions: Employers often offer matching gift programs on behalf of their employees. This can multiply your gift and provide even more vital services. Please contact your human resources department for eligibility.

Memorials and Honorariums: Did the Zoo hold a special place for a loved one? One way to depict that relationship is in the form of a memorial or honorarium. The Zoo will send acknowledgement of the gift to a friend or family member. The memorial may be marked with a plaque or other signage. Larger gifts may be used to name Zoo exhibits or featured areas.

Stock Gifts or Other Securities: Gifts of stock, securities, bond, mutual funds, etc. provide needed dollars for the Zoo while providing attractive tax incentives for the donor.

For additional information on any of these programs please call (816) 513-5809, or e-mail donate@fotzkc.org. Or, for your convenience, you may donate online.
