Kid’s Conservation Club Questions and Answers

What is the Kid’s Conservation Club?
This is a new club which will explore unique adventures into the science and fun behind our living environment. Kids can trek the globe and jump into the science of wildlife and environmental conservation with the Kansas City Zoo’s Kid’s Conservation Club. Staff and experts will provide hands-on activities, including animal classification, archaeology and anthropology, global warming, the benefits of horticulture, water purity studies, energy conservation and recycling, among others.

When does the Club meet and for how long?
The Kid’s Conservation Club will meet every second Saturday from 2 – 3 p.m. during the Second Saturdays Kids Fun Fest, which is from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Where will the Club meet?
The Kid’s Conservation Club location will be determined each month according to Club activities.

Who can join and is there a fee?
The Kid’s Conservation Club is open to any FOTZ member ages 5 – 12. There is no additional fee for joining.

Do parents stay or drop their children off?
Parents are welcome to attend the Kid’s Conservation Club and are encouraged to do so.

Do you have to pre-register for the Kid’s Conservation Club or can you just arrive at an event?
The Marketing Department is accepting reservations and pre-registrations or you may register at the Kid’s Conservation Club meeting. There is no deadline for registering.

If guests arrive at the Zoo and are not FOTZ members yet, will there be a way for them to sign up for a membership that day to be able to participate?
Any Zoo guest who would like to sign up to be a FOTZ member is encouraged to do so. Guests may sign up online or at the front gate when they arrive at the Zoo. Once registered as a FOTZ member, everyone ages 5 – 12 is welcome to participate in the Kid’s Conservation Club.

Which staff will be the activity managers?
