The Zoo is Open Year-Round!
The Zoo is open from 9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. every day! Closed only Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day.
Year round enjoyment and exciting events abound at the Kansas City Zoo! Watch the active primates in the Tropics, and the always busy meerkats inside the Discovery Barn. Visit the Zoo's newsest resident, a baby Blue Monkey born in early November on display daily with its parents in the Tropics.
And, don't forget the red-haired orangutan baby, Kalijon (kay-lee-JON), who was born in April. Kalijon is on exhibit daily from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the Orangutan Sunroom.
Kansas City, MO residents continue to enjoy complimentary admission during regular operating hours through November 30, 2009 (with valid ID and proof of residency), and everyone can take advantage of the Zoo’s $5 admission rate through February 28, 2010!

Watch the Cheetahs Race this Saturday

Cheer for your favorite cheetah girl as the Zoo’s big cats give chase to a lure at the end of a motorized track. This enriching demonstration takes place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Cheetah Exhibit near the African Marketplace.

breakfast at Pancakes for Penguins. Featuring pancakes and sausage from Chris Cakes, hot coffee from the Roasterie, and milk from Roberts Dairy, this event will help raise funds to bring Penguins to the Zoo! Everyone is Preparing for the Polar Bear!
The Zoo continues construction on the $10 million Polar Bear exhibit area, and has arranged for a two-and-a-half-year-old male Polar Bear to be the "star" of the Zoo’s new awesome arctic adventure opening Summer 2010.
Keeper Rebecca Prewitt recently traveled to the tundra to learn to learn more about Polar Bears, their shrinking habitats, and how we can help save this threatened species. Read about her journey and what you can do to make a difference.
