KC Can Compost

As part of the Kansas City Zoo & Aquariums growing partnership with KC Can Compost, Zoo events diverted more than 2,700 lbs. of waste from the landfill this year. The Kansas City Zoo is uniquely positioned to raise awareness and encourage our guests to continue reducing waste in their daily lives. By involving the over 25,000 people that attend our annual events in composting, even for one night, we hope to have an exponential impact. Just like KC Can Compost the Zoo is dedicated to creating a greener community and inspiring change, the Zoo is proud to be a resource for the Kanas City community and model steps to become Zero Waste. Composting food scraps has many benefits such as saving space in landfills, reducing methane emissions and creating healthier soil.
