1. Admission and On-Site Conduct
Admission to the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium (KCZoo) is granted solely upon presentation of a valid ticket or membership. All children under the age of fifteen (15) must be accompanied by an adult, who must be 18 years of age or alder, a parent, a group counselor, or a legal guardian. A maximum of 10 children is allowed per adult. KCZoo reserves the right to refuse admission or remove any individual from the premises for conduct deemed inappropriate, disruptive, unsafe, or in violation of these Terms. Guests are prohibited from bringing pets (excluding ADA-compliant service animals), glass containers, balloons, disposable straws or lids, alcohol, illegal substances, weapons, drones, bicycles, skateboards, hoverboards, scooters, in-line skates, and any other items that may pose a risk to the safety of guests, staff, or animals. Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited on Zoo property.
All guests must wear appropriate attire, including shirts and shoes, while on Zoo premises. Clothing bearing offensive language, imagery, or symbols is not permitted. KCZoo reserves the right to determine the appropriateness of attire and to deny entry or request removal of individuals who do not comply.
Photography for personal, non-commercial use is permitted. By entering the Zoo, guests grant KCZoo and its affiliates the irrevocable right to use their likeness, image, and voice in photographs, video recordings, and other media for promotional, educational, and marketing purposes without compensation. Commercial photography, videography, or media production require prior written authorization from KCZoo.
2. Ticketing Terms of Use
Tickets for admission may be purchased via the official KCZoo website, on the KCZoo mobile app, or at designated on-site ticketing locations. Online tickets are valid for sixty (60) calendar days from the originally selected date of visit unless otherwise specified. All ticket sales are final; tickets are non-refundable.
To provide guests with the convenience of purchasing tickets, memberships, and other items online, a Web Convenience Fee may be applied to certain transactions completed through our online purchasing system. The fee helps offset the costs associated with secure online payment processing and ticketing services. The amount of the fee will be clearly displayed before you complete your purchase and will appear as a separate line item on your receipt. This fee applies only to online purchases and may vary depending on the payment method used. Web Convenience Fees are non-refundable, except where required by law. By completing your purchase, you acknowledge and accept this fee.
Discounted admission may be available to residents of Jackson and Clay counties in Missouri upon verification of residency through ZIP code confirmation. Military personnel may be eligible for discounted admission on designated days upon presentation of valid military identification. KCZoo reserves the right to modify or discontinue discount programs at its sole discretion.
KCZoo does not guarantee the availability of specific animals, amenities, or attractions on any given day. No refunds or compensation will be provided due to inclement weather, animal unavailability, amenity closures, or other operational changes. KCZoo reserves the right to cancel or reschedule events and to close portions of the facility for maintenance, safety, or other reasons without prior notice or liability.
3. Membership Terms of Use
Memberships to KCZoo are valid for a period of one (1) year from the date of purchase unless otherwise stated. Memberships are non-transferable and non-refundable. At least one named adult listed on the membership must be present for admission. Misuse of membership privileges, including unauthorized transfer or resale, may result in immediate termination of membership without refund.
Membership benefits include unlimited general admission during regular operating hours, discounts on retail purchases, food and beverage concessions, and select special events. Members may also be eligible for reciprocal admission benefits at participating institutions through the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Reciprocal Admissions Program. KCZoo does not guarantee the availability or continuity of any specific benefit and reserves the right to modify or discontinue benefits at any time.
Memberships may be purchased in full or through approved installment payment plans. Renewal of memberships prior to expiration may qualify for promotional pricing or benefits, subject to availability and KCZoo’s discretion.
4. Website Terms of Use
The KCZoo website, mobile app, and associated digital platforms are provided for informational, educational, and transactional purposes. By accessing or using the website or app, you agree not to engage in any activity that is unlawful, infringes upon the rights of others, or disrupts the operation of the website or device. Unauthorized access, data mining, or use of automated systems to extract data is strictly prohibited.
All content on the website and mobile app, including text, graphics, logos, images, audio, video, and software, is the property of KCZoo or its licensors and is protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or publicly display any content without prior written consent from KCZoo. Use of the website and mobile app is subject to KCZoo’s Privacy Policy, which outlines the collection, use, and protection of personal information. By using the website, you consent to the collection and use of your information in accordance with the Privacy Policy.
5. Gift Card Terms of Use
KCZoo gift cards do not expire. In accordance with the federal Credit CARD Act, no inactivity, dormancy, or service fees apply. Gift cards may be redeemed at the KCZoo for admission, retail, events, programs, memberships, and other eligible Zoo-operated purchases. Some third-party offerings may be excluded. Gift cards are not redeemable for cash, except where required by Missouri law. All gift card sales are final. KCZoo is not responsible for lost or stolen cards. If the guest presents the original proof of purchase and the remaining balance can be verified, replacement cards may be issued for a $5 reissue fee.
Guests may check their balance by calling (816) 595-1234 or at any on-site sales location. Gift cards may not be resold, transferred for value, or used for promotions or advertising without written authorization from the Zoo. KCZoo reserves the right to reject, deactivate, or withhold any card suspected of fraud, misuse, or unauthorized alteration.
5. Liability and Indemnification
Guests acknowledge and voluntarily assume all risks associated with visiting an outdoor live animal facility, including but not limited to personal injury, property damage, or exposure to environmental conditions. KCZoo shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your visit, use of services, or reliance on information provided by KCZoo, except where such liability is mandated by applicable law.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless KCZoo, its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of or in connection with your breach of these Terms or your use of KCZoo’s facilities or services.
6. Dispute Resolution and Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Missouri, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising under or in connection with these Terms shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Jackson County, Missouri. You agree to submit to the personal jurisdiction of such courts and waive any objections to venue or jurisdiction.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree that any dispute shall be resolved on an individual basis and not as part of a class or representative action.
7. Modifications to Terms
KCZoo reserves the right to modify, amend, or update these Terms at any time without prior notice. Continued use of KCZoo’s services, facilities, or website following any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. It is your responsibility to review these Terms periodically for updates.
